The Best Guy for Me

Mum and Dad in Tagaytay

Father's Day, what's it all about? Is it just another passing event that everyone in the family shares? Or is it more than that? Have questions like that in your mind? Well neither have I.Actually I've recently thought of them just now. So what is Father's Day?

June, it's the month of a well known occasion; Independence Day, but another important event is the Father's Day. It's on the second Sunday of June, and this is where our beloved dad's take the time to relax and be a King. This is also where the mum and kids prepare a special surprise for their much - loved father. Even in malls, you'll see banners, tarpaulins and all sorts of things screaming "Happy Father's Day".

Yesterday was Sunday, a warm introduction about Father's Day was preached by my dad in the church. As time passed by, things flew through my mind. Things like - what will we be doing after this?. Some years before, I thought of making letters to my dad whenever this event arrives, but somethings change and I never got to do it. So what I did this morning, as soon as I woke up and fixed myself I greeted my dad like I really meant it and gave him a morning kiss on the cheek. Sometimes we shouldn't really rely on material things; like with gifts, because some people prefer your presence rather than your present.

Whenever a person gives a gift to someone they usually wait for something like thank you or he/she will give something in return. This Father's Day, do we really want to wait for our father's to pay us back, like a gift on your birthday? But actually, for me, hearing that heart warming thank you is really enough for me. Expecting something in return is not me, actually a simple "Thank you", "Good job" and other compliments is all I need, because I know that I did good.

Another special thing is making my dad happy. It may seem hard but I tried my best; not just in Father's Day but like, everyday. Who wouldn't want to make their father happy, especially on Father's Day? So I just kept on trying to get my dad's good side and hopefully I did. So I'm just happy that Sunday turned out fine. Hoping that the following days would turn out great, whether its Father's Day, Mother's Day or even if it's Christmas, I think we should all keep in mind that showing our great love and affection to our family should be a habit to all of us.

Stepping To Junior High

Playing under the sun, being with relatives and slacking a bit are some of the things that us kids do on summer. We tend to find the funnest things to do and make it worthwhile. But then again, all those fun and relaxing stuff has to come to an end. School is coming and summer is waving it's goodbye. It's time to challenge ourselves and strive to study harder. But actually, fun doesn't really stop here, it's just beginning to start.

The frightening silence of the room was disturbing as our adviser stepped in. Because of this, several things came up to my mind; questions like: "Is she an easy to go with teacher?", "A strict adviser; meaning is she scary?"or "Someone who's normally not around?". Whoever she really is I'm quite excited in a happy way, well ironically from what I expected. I also hope that the other teachers aren't that scary.

In Ma'am May's time, we exchanged some laughs as she explained the things we're about to encounter with her for a whole year. It was utterly fun to see that our adviser was full of zeal. She also advised us that we should treat the room nicely and all of those do's and don'ts. Well as far as I know I might be coming across greater challenges this school year, but whatever those may be I'm willing to face them.

Knowing my classmates was rather easy for me since I'am already familiar with all of them; well not personally. At first I though I wouldn't get along that well with my classmates but, my first impressions aren't really that right most of the times. To be honest the first two weeks of school was fun. I was quite determined that making a nice impression with my classmates would be easy. Having a nice impression on the first day of class is a must for me and I'll be trying to keep it that way till this school year ends and so on. But of course, that doesn't mean that I have to fake my attitude. This school year I will totally be me, our adviser did say that she doesn't want plastic's in the room especially with her students behavior.

This year would be loads of fun. I bet it'll be harder, more sleepless nights and trials but challenges are challenges and this is life. And if ever I make mistakes I'll accept it and learn from it. I won't be running away hence I shall face it. And I know that God is here to help and guide me through out.

A calm day at the school. (At the left is a heart shape leaves.)
