Father's Day, what's it all about? Is it just another passing event that everyone in the family shares? Or is it more than that? Have questions like that in your mind? Well neither have I.Actually I've recently thought of them just now. So what is Father's Day?
June, it's the month of a well known occasion; Independence Day, but another important event is the Father's Day. It's on the second Sunday of June, and this is where our beloved dad's take the time to relax and be a King. This is also where the mum and kids prepare a special surprise for their much - loved father. Even in malls, you'll see banners, tarpaulins and all sorts of things screaming "Happy Father's Day".
Yesterday was Sunday, a warm introduction about Father's Day was preached by my dad in the church. As time passed by, things flew through my mind. Things like - what will we be doing after this?. Some years before, I thought of making letters to my dad whenever this event arrives, but somethings change and I never got to do it. So what I did this morning, as soon as I woke up and fixed myself I greeted my dad like I really meant it and gave him a morning kiss on the cheek. Sometimes we shouldn't really rely on material things; like with gifts, because some people prefer your presence rather than your present.
Whenever a person gives a gift to someone they usually wait for something like thank you or he/she will give something in return. This Father's Day, do we really want to wait for our father's to pay us back, like a gift on your birthday? But actually, for me, hearing that heart warming thank you is really enough for me. Expecting something in return is not me, actually a simple "Thank you", "Good job" and other compliments is all I need, because I know that I did good.
Another special thing is making my dad happy. It may seem hard but I tried my best; not just in Father's Day but like, everyday. Who wouldn't want to make their father happy, especially on Father's Day? So I just kept on trying to get my dad's good side and hopefully I did. So I'm just happy that Sunday turned out fine. Hoping that the following days would turn out great, whether its Father's Day, Mother's Day or even if it's Christmas, I think we should all keep in mind that showing our great love and affection to our family should be a habit to all of us.
